hearts & cats

i have been so busy with life recently, that 'creating' has unfortunately suffered. i would have liked to have more time to sit long streches of time (i.e. a whole day) to think , create, try, fail, try again and succeed. but my delicious baby and husband have been successfully stealing me away from my sewing machine. i have fulfilled all orders though.

the shop is going ok. maybe not as good as i had hoped, but good enough to give me the freedom to be stolen away from any must-do project and enjoy beach-life with the aforementioned delicious family members.

but

i haven't been totally lazy either. i found a fantastic new fabric - brown cotton with white hearts. lovely. i tried to make a sunhat, but even after several rounds of adjusting, it just didn't turn out that well. i blame the pattern. i also made a very cute toddler dress with purple bias tape. i just put it up in the etsy shop.

oh and i also bought my new absolute favorite fabric. it's just totally devine. what am i going sew out of it?

wild modeling

i have been busy. very inspired to create. and i did - create. i found some really nice new fabric and couldn't resist making some more boyish clothes. with my daughter being my no. one source of inspiration it is maybe no wonder i'm inspired to make dresses and skirts, but i do want to create clothes for both genders and if possible even better, unisex items.

so today i tried to photograph the pants i made for my etsy shoy, but my girl just didn't want to cooperate, being an active child. a small collage of blurry action shots

note-to-self:
don't make daughter model clothes when she just had a long nap and is eager to play and run-around.

finished and not even started...

after several rounds of prototyping, eli is now finished and for sale. he was a bit of work, but it was all worth it because he's just too cute now.

finished eli

prototype 1, prototype 2, finished eli

in other news, i have adjusted the pricing of all items for sale in my etsy shop - Stelline. reduced prices for most items actually. now it feels as if there is some kind of strategy behind the pricing of all items. the prices reflect not only the work and material cost of each individual item, but there is a relation to the price of any other item, i.e. pants are most expensive because they need most fabric and elastic fabric (relatively expensive) and they are time consuming to do. skirts are much easier and faster in production and bibs even more so, hence lower prices.

on the 15th and 16th of May i'm showcasing my shop in two of etsy's showcases. on the 15th in children and on the 16th in kids and toys. i'm really curious on the effect of that. until then i'll be really busy with the ambitious sewing schedule i have put up for myself. i love sewing.

oh and i'm a year older today. and it's mother's day (though not here in sweden it certainly is in my home country germany). happy mother's day to all you mother's out there and happy birthday to me.

a beginning

the day my job was made redundant i bought myself a new sewing machine. i'm surely no pro when it comes to sewing but i sew with passion. i have a lot of patience and i like experimenting.

i love children's clothes. baby clothes even more so. i also love strong colors particulalry when mixed and matched with each other. and vintage fabric. i love that too.

here are some of the items i am soon (not yet) going to sell in my newly created etsy shop.

green skirt with turquoise elastic waist

yellow skirt with pink elastic waist

green pants with pink elastic fabric at waist and ankles

white pants with brown hearts, with purple elastic fabric at waist and ankles
